Photographing glaciers on a cruise in Alaska.

PHOTOS: I got interested in photography when I was a layout designer for ANG Newspapers and had to work with art as part of the job. I always had fun working with the photographers, and enjoyed playing up worthy photos when I could. (An ambition generally squelched in favor of getting a fifth story on the front page.) When I left the paper, I bought myself my first SLR, and discovered that it was basically one more excuse for mucking around harassing wildlife and chasing scenery. Since last year, I've been using a Nikon digital SLR, which badly, badly needs a cleaning, as it turns out that wading into muck with complicated optical technology is not a consequence-free activity.

Anyway, I've got all my photos, including scanned images from my film camera, on Flickr.

My wife Hari, who has a photography background and a really nice camera, also has an active Flickr page.

Also, check out the fine work of fellow journalists Tim Lesle (also on Flickr) and John Curley.
