Gallery Net
Interaction and Interface Design, two weeks, spring 2005
I designed a small screen interface for navigating hierarchal information about art galleries, based on the specific informational needs of my developed persona.
In a team of two, design a small screen interface that allows users to easily navigate content about
galleries.
Due to the limited amount of time for this project, we created a persona to design our interface around. We created this persona by brainstorming kinds of people with an informational need in a mobile context, and talking informally with friends and family.
We moved quickly to wire frame sketches of our ideas on paper and in Illustrator, and created a navigation map detailing the interaction. We then refined our ideas and demonstrated the interaction using a Flash prototype.
Gallery Net provides location-based art gallery information for the mobile user. The display options support mobility by allowing users to see currently open galleries that are close by or have special events.
The search results show as much information as possible given the small screen in order to help users make informed decisions about their next keypress and avoid unnecessary waiting. Detailed gallery information as well as maps and directions are provided for the galleries.
