PalmPilot Redesign

HCI Methods, fall 2005

I evaluated the PalmPilot interface and wrote an extensive usability report including detailed redesign suggestions.

In a team of five, evaluate the current PalmPilot interface and make suggestions for a redesign.

This project was part of a highly structured class, so we were working within the constraints of the limited data set provided by the instructors. We used contextual inquiry, heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthrough and think-aloud studies to evaluate the PalmPilot interface, then put ideas from all of these techniques into a selective redesign and usability report.

Our redesign solves many of the inconsistencies in the Palm interface and maps event creation more closely to the user's mental model. The appendix details all of our usability evaluation results from the semester and fully documents each of our proposed changes.
