Quote Expression
Communication Design Fundamentals, three weeks, fall 2004
I created a composition expressing my interpretation of a Georgia O'Keeffe quote,
Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small. We haven't time - and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.
Problem
Express typographically a personal interpretation of a given quote, without using any of its punctuation.
Approach
I began with lots of sketching, then moved several designs into Illustrator to further refine my ideas. Peer and instructor feedback also contributed to the final design.
Solution
The composition reflects my interpretation of the quote by its flowing words and overall representation of a flower that you have to look at closely in order to read. Taking the time to follow the words throughout the flower allows the reader to better appreciate the quote's meaning.
Collaborators
Advised by Elizabeth Windram.
